Confidence. Compassion. Connection.

Have you reached the point in your career where you’re leading your own small team?

Have you just been promoted to your first managerial role, because you were so good at your job but nobody told you exactly how to manage the team?

Or are you growing your own company, and need an extra pair of hands to help you?

It’s such an exciting and thrilling time for you, but sometimes you’re not sure how to do certain things; what to say in some situations and how to tell someone they could be doing better.

You have always wanted to get to this moment so that you can create a team of people that feel empowered, trusted and full of potential.

But you’re not fully confident that you’re on the right track, and there are times that you feel:

  • Overwhelmed by the pressure of your new role
  • Uncertain about your decisions
  • Judged on everything you do, not only by your subordinates but also by your superiors
  • Out of your depth
  • Anxious and stressed
  • Worried that you might not be good enough for the job

You’re not alone in your feelings, as a lot  of companies still consider the best way to train first time managers is to use the “SINK OR SWIM” method.

You suddenly realise you have to figure it all out on your own. It is widely assumed that everyone intuitively knows how to manage. Well, THEY DON’T.

Welcome to the challenging yet exciting world of LEADERSHIP, where being successful is about valuing and understanding the most complex of all systems – people! And this is where the FIRST TIME MANAGERS PROGRAMME can help.

That’s why I’ve created a special programme which is dedicated to First Time Managers who were either thrown into the deep end with no preparation; or they’ve been managing for a while but things are not going as smoothly as expected; or they’re expanding their own companies and are not sure where to start when it comes to creating their own team.

I’ve created this programme because over the last year I had so many clients who were exactly in this position and couldn’t find help.

There are so many different leadership programmes, but there are none dedicated to people who are just starting, and need guidance with building and leading their teams.

So, how would you feel if you knew all the tricks to leading a small team, and which  pitfalls to avoid when you’re starting as a manager? How much stress, and how many sleepless nights you could avoid!

This is what you’ll learn by joining the programme:

  • How to become a confident leader who your staff will follow
  • 7 most common pitfalls to avoid as a new leader
  • How to build trust and motivation
  • How to give effective feedback, so it works for both your staff and you
  • What to do with emotions at work
  • How to handle a difficult member of staff
  • What are the consequences of avoiding difficult conversations
  • How to handle really tough conversations
  • How to hire the right people for your team
  • How to look after yourself as a leader, so you won’t burn out
  • How to deal confidently with stress and pressure using the handy tools you’ll get during the programme
  • And much more…

What to Expect

There are 6 x 2 hrs of practical live online workshop sessions in small groups. At the end of the programme you will:

You want to lead your team with confidence so everyone works really well together – but you’re not sure how to handle some situations…

Module 1 - Where do I start?

We begin by learning how to hire the perfect employee for your team, and how to build that team, aligning values, and establishing your personal leadership style. You’ll learn the seven most common pitfalls to avoid as a First Time Manager, and the difference between leadership vs management.

Module 2 - How do I lead my team?

We’ll get into the nuts and bolts of management here – building trust, the differences between managing introverts and extroverts on your team, and how to keep your people engaged. We’ll investigate how to delegate effectively; the problems that can arise from the two extremes of micromanaging and undermanaging; the importance of clear communication; and how to manage a team remotely

Module 3 - How to build motivation, relationships and trust

This one’s all about development for your team. You’ll learn how to become a coach and the skills you need to do this effectively, along with psychological safety and the importance of motivation. You’ll learn about the power of empowerment for your team, and how to back that up with goal setting, active listening and coaching conversations – and why it’s not always advisable to give advice.

Module 4 - Managing myself in a new role

It’s all about you: your work-life balance, and how to manage those new demands on your time and the stress that can bring: building your resilience and avoiding burnout. We’ll discuss how to be compassionate to yourself and others, how to employ assertiveness to make sure your needs are met, and how to use empathy to understand where others are coming from.

Module 5 - How to handle difficult conversations and emotions at work

Emotions are always a factor wherever we are – at work as well as at home – and they influence how we communicate and how we react. We’ll look at handling our own emotions, helping others to handle theirs, and how we deal with feedback for ourselves and others – especially having those difficult conversations. We’ll investigate the way we communicate, and how it affects us and those around us.

Module 6 - Wrap up and real life scenarios

In this session we bring it all together, using real life scenarios to put what we’ve learned into practice. We’ll also talk about the psychology of persuasion, and how it can benefit you and your team.

About Me

My own leadership journey started over 20 years ago when I set up my own Language Centre, and after securing my first contract with the biggest pharmaceutical company in Poland at the time – to teach their managers English – I suddenly became a leader.

Having never been trained as a manager, I found myself employing my former colleagues. It was an interesting experience, to say the least.

I made a few mistakes on my leadership journey, especially at the beginning.

I was micromanaging, I was acting like my staff’s friend which made it hard for me to make them accountable for their actions. I was also not delegating enough and was using up all my energy in my business, with not much left for my private life and small children at the time.

However, the lessons I have learnt on how to connect, and how to lead with empathy and compassion, were lessons for life. Over time I was leading five locations of the company and over 30 staff. I successfully sold my company after 10 years of running it.

I went on to study Business Psychology, and gained Coaching Certifications which allowed me to get a deeper understanding of how people work best together so that businesses can thrive.

I have trained managers for John Lewis,  Taylor Wimpey, 3M as well as many smaller businesses.

Now, I’m helping people just like you, who have lost themselves in their roles (whether because it’s new and overwhelming, or because they’ve seen it all and don’t feel it anymore), and who are looking to get their confidence, purpose and motivation back.

How much would you like to invest to become a confident leader?

Kasia Murphy Consulting Business Psychologist Leadership Management Training Milton Keynes Buckinghamshire Bedfordshire Berkshire Northamptonshire

MK COLLEGE

“Coaching sessions with Kasia were a complete life changer for me! They helped me acknowledge my team’s different personalities and I have become more self-aware of my own leadership style and have better and more meaningful 1 to 1 conversations within my team. Kasia was great not only at explaining new skills but also at supporting me in applying them. The coaching sessions helped me become a better, more mindful leader, improve my communication skills and build stronger relationships within my team. I would 100% recommend Kasia to any manager, regardless of how long they have been in their role!”

Ilona Zadrozna, TSA Co-ordinator, Milton Keynes College

JOHN LEWIS & PARTNERS

“Since establishing her own company, Kasia has worked alongside John Lewis conducting a site-wide work/life balance survey, covering a large group of operational Partners at our flagship Distribution Centre in Milton Keynes.  From the outset, Kasia has exceeded our expectations, delivering a suite of results which have provided an impressive insight into our working culture here at Magna Park.  Kasia was diligent and professional throughout the project, which proved thorough and comprehensive in content.  I would not hesitate in recommending Kasia to any forward-thinking organisations wishing to further explore their working environment.”

John Munnelly, Head of Operations

TAYLOR WIMPEY

“With my recent chats with Kasia she has been a massive help to myself within finding ways to build my confidence and dealing with difficult situations. I have learnt a lot within a couple of chats with her and I use the different techniques in my day to day job role now. Kasia is so lovely, and listened to all my problems I had going on and helped me find solutions.  Thank you so much!”

Lily Horton, Site Manager Assistant, Taylor Wimpey South Midlands

MEN'S PROGRAMME CLIENT

“My coaching sessions with Kasia have really helped to clarify what I want and how I can achieve it. My sessions with her have been very useful in helping me articulate challenges I am going through and guiding me to finding solutions. She has been very helpful and supportive and I would recommend her to anyone seeking help on resilience, confidence and leadership.”

Business Analyst, Global Financial Advisory

TRIMANUAL and GREENLIGHT PT

“Kasia was great in helping me launch my latest project. Without her, there’s no way I’d have got all the work done in the deadlines that I set myself. She was excellent in helping me get my thoughts nice and clear on paper, and then also setting deadlines and having some accountability towards finishing the project. It was excellent. Sometimes, as a self-employed person that can be quite difficult to do, so having someone to bounce ideas off, structure my thoughts, and actually put them into action was everything that I needed. Thanks Kasia!”

Adam Gibson, Owner and Head Coach

3M CORPORATE SECURITY

“I recently had the good fortune to work with Kasia on a need to improve my own work habits.  I felt my daily routine needed improvement to improve productivity, but I was unable to effectively identify and correct the problem myself.  After just one session with Kasia, I was able to make a change in one critical work habit that had a significant effect upon my workday.  Kasia did not do this through lectures or motivational sermons.  Instead she worked with me in a manner that made it seem as though I had discovered the problem myself and designed the solution.  Yet, without her engagement with me it never would have happened.  Kasia is nonjudgmental, enthusiastic, insightful, and very pleasant to work with.  Any time spent working with her will be productive, enjoyable and time well spent.”

Robert Burnham, Manager for Europe

E-PME/GC, BASF

“I really enjoyed the coaching experience with Kasia. It was a great opportunity to take a pause, step back and  reflect deeper about the matter itself and my internal motives and feelings. The theoretical background and explanations provided by Kasia helped me  realize the mechanisms of my behaviour and consequences which they cause. I felt perfectly understood by my coach. Now it is my task to work at improvements, using the outcome of the coaching sessions.”

Vitaliy Vilinchuk, Sales Team Leader
